Udupi:Dec,24. Second Nitte International Conference will be held at the Justice K.S.Hegde Institute of Management, Nitte, on 29-30, December 2010.  The theme of Conference: Redefining the Roles of Business, NGOs and Governments:  A Mission for a Better Global Society.  The theme has been chosen considering its relevance in the international level, said Dr. M.S.Moodithaya, Director of Justice K.S.Hegde Institute of Manangement, Nitte.  The first International Conference was organized on 29-30 December, 2008 at Nitte.

 

Addressing the Press Conference at Nitte on Decemeber 24th at 11.00 AM, Moodithaya said that the Second Conference will go a long way in exploring further areas of research on the changed roles of NGOs and Governments and Business in evolving a better global society.  Shri N.Vinaya Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte University, Prof. K. Ramesh Karnik, Professor JKSHIM, Nitte, Dr.G. V.Joshi, Professor at JKSHIM and Member, Karnataka State Planning Board and Dr. Sudhir Raj K, a Senior Professor at the Institute were also present in the press conference.

 

The Second Conference is being organized in association with School  of Social Policy and Practice, University of Pennsylvania, USA, Erasmus Centre for Strategic Philanthropy, The Netherlands Graduate School of Policy Science, Ritsumeikan University, Japan, Third Sector Research Resource Centre, University of Mysore, India.

 

The total number of delegates attending the Conference would exceed 160.  As of now, there are 36 foreign delegates hailing from China, USA, Japan, Kenya, Uganda, Netherlands and Dubai.  The Indian delegates numbering 136 represent different fields like academics, banking, research institutes and NGOs.  There will be 20  parallel technical sessions.

 

The conference will be inaugurated on 29th December at 11.00 AM by Mr. Narendra M, the Chairman and Managing Director, Indian Overseas Bank, Dr. Ram A Cnaan, Professor and Associate Dean for Research and Doctoral Education, SP2, University of Pennsylvania, USA, will deliver the key note address.


Dr. M. Shantharama Shetty, Vice Chancellor, Nitte University, India, Dr. Lucas Meijis, Director, Erasmus Centre for Strategic Philanthrophy, The Netherlands, Dr. Yashavantha Dongre, Registrar, Sri Krishna Devaraya University, India, Prof Akio Kamiko, Professor, Graduate School of Policy Science, Ritsumeikan University, Japan will be the guests of honour.  Shri N.Vinaya Hegde, Chancellor, Nitte University, India, will preside. On the same theme of the Conference, on 30th December at 11.00 AM, there will be a colloquium to be presided by Dr. Femida Handy, University of Pennsylvania, USA.  The Panelists presenting their views are Dr. Hisaya Oda, Ritsumekan University, Japan, Dr. Yashavantha Dongre, Sri Krishna Devaraya University, India, Dr. Lucas Mejis, Erasmus Centre for Strategic Philanthropy, The Netherlands, Dr. Waswa Balunywa, Makerere University Business School, Uganda, Dr. G.V.Joshi, Justice K.S.Hegde Institute of Management, Nitte.

 

The valedictory program of the Conference will be held on 30.12.2010 at 5.00 PM. Dr. Richard Gelles, Dean, School of Social Policy and Practice, University of Pennsylvania, USA will deliver the valedictory address.  Dr. Waswa Balunywa, Principal, Makerere University Business School, Uganda will be the  Chief Guest. Dr. N.K. Thingalaya, Chairman, Academic Council, JKSHIM, Nitte will preside.

 

The Institute has made suitable arrangements for accommodating all guests and delegates at Nitte itself, he added. 

 

The papers presented in the Conference will be published in book form, Dr. Moodithaya stated.
