UDUPI: Muslim Lekhakara Sangha, Mangalore & Udupi felicitated the eminent writer Abdul Hameed Pakkaladka on Friday with Muslim Literary Award (Muslim Sahitya Prashasti).
He was appreciated and felicitated for his work “Alemari.” Addressing the gathering after the felicitation Abdul Hameed Pakkaladka told that literature and stories are the best ways of expressing the emotions. He also urged that publishers must encourage the writers and not work with the motive of making profit. He further added that only when young talents are encouraged their will be a good result in the field of literature. Senior Muslim writer G.M. Shirhatti was also felicitated during this occasion. Editor of “Sanmarga” A.K. Kukkila, addressing the gathering on this occasion on the topic of corruption told that globalisation and liberalisation had changed the morals of the people and added that people are being more greedier which is not a good sign of development. Corruption had become the order of the day and in fact it is increasing every year, Mr. Kukkila said. Writers Shiv Sundar and K. Phaniraj, who were participating as guests in the function, wore black ribbons protesting against the Chhattisgarh court verdict of life imprisonment to human rights activist Binayak Sen. President of the Muslim Lekhakara Sangha A. Saeed Ismaeel, M.B. Abdul Rehman, Mohammed Rafik Tonse, U.H. Umar, and Anwar Ali were the others present on this occasion |
