Syndicate Bank to open 11 high net worth individuals’ lounges across India

Print MANGALORE: Syndicate Bank which is eying the Rs 3.5 lakh crore business mark by end of this fiscal, having achieved the Rs 3 lakh crore mark as on December 2012, is now focusing on high net worth individuals (HNI). The bank has drawn up an ambitious plan to start HNI lounges in 11 metro centres across India to cater to this niche clientele by end of this fiscal, M Anjaneya Prasad, executive director of the Bank said here on Monday.
Interacting with reporters prior to handing over sanction letters to 20 selected beneficiaries under Integrated Tribal Development Programme, Anjaneya said the HNI lounges that offer a host of benefits to its clientele will be extended to tier-II cities in the next fiscal in a phased manner. The bank will also further improve the functioning of its e-lounge opened at HSR Layout in Bangalore to enhance a banking experience sans any human interface.
Hinting at the bank’s resolve to gradually reduce bulk deposits as per directions given by the finance ministry without effecting its liquidity position, he said the bank has already shed Rs 7,000 crore of such deposits. "The share of bulk deposits vis-a-vis our total deposits of Rs 1.64 lakh crore was around 22% as on March last," he said, adding that it has now come down to 16%. "We will bring this down to 15% by end of March this year," he said.
In its endeavour to provide better business to customers, the bank intends to take its total number of branches to 3,000 by March end, he said, adding the bank has 197 licences given by RBI so far and has applied for 121 more pan-India licences. The bank during 2012-13 has opened 65 new branches. Anjaneya later handed over sanction letters to beneficiaries to help them purchase tourist cars, auto rickshaws and goods carriers under the programme.
