Udupi Railway Yatri Sangha Members’ Meeting with KRCL Officers
Kemmannu News Network, 27-03-2013 08:16:50
Mumbai:On 22-3-2013 Udupi Railway Yatri Sangha members met the Konkan Railway Officers in Konkan Railway Office at Belapur of Maharashtra in the leadership of R.L.Dias its President and discussed about the demands of the 3 coastal districts of Karnataka.
Great injustice has been done in the 2013-14 Railway budget pronounced on 26-2-2013:
1. There are 27 stations from Madgaon to Mangalore. The Sangha was demanding an ordinary passenger train from Vasco-Da-Gama to start at 5 AM to Mangalore & back. An inter-city train has been sanctioned instead. This train will stop at 8-10 random stations. It will not be useful to small distant travellers and employees.
2. The Sangha was demanding a DEMU train from Karwar to Mangalore. A DEMU is being sanctioned from Bhatkal to Thokur. Thokur is a way side goods station. It will not benefit anybody. No surprise when it gets cancelled for want of passengers. Our demand for a DEMU from Karwar to Mangalore Cl.
3. Konkan Railway is facing financial shortage. It may be given an extension of 10 years with power to raise loans on bonds as it was at the beginning of KRCL, so that it can double the Konkan Railway time.
4. Stop to Kochuveli - Amritsar - Dehradun trains at Udupi. The Officers promised that Dehradun train stop may be given as early as possible so that pilgrims to Hrishikesh and Haridwar are benefited.
5. KRCL publishes the time table on a sheet. Day by day trains are sanctioned to Kerala on Konkan route. Therefore the time table may be printed in a small booklet, as being done Cl. and Western Railways.
6. For the benefit of people to the north of Bombay city a bi-weekly train may be started from Bandra to Mangalore Cl. via Vasai Road jn.
7. Since last year a Holiday special train is started from Ahmedabad to Mangalore - It may be made permanent.
8. Yesvantpur - Kwr day trian has only Indian type Commodes, at least one among the four in 1 coach may be changed to English type so that Sr. Citizen and people with knee joint pain are benefited.
9. Please form a Railway Committee at Udupi
10.Some lobby is traying to change the timings of Yesvantpur-Karwar night train. Please see that it remains the same.
11.Railway Yatri Sangha has submitted a proposal of a new railway line from Nandikoor to Hale Mudigere via Karkal - Naravi - Ujre - charmdy - Action may please be take to survey the line immediately.
12.A stop may be given to Mumbai CST - Mangalore - Fast train at Dadar.
13.Quota may be fixed for passengers from Vadodra and Surat stations to Karwar to Mangalore.
14.Name to be given as "George Fernandes Road" to Indrali - Udupi Railway Station Road.
15.The Yesvantpur - Karwar tri-weekly day train may be made daily.
Sri R.L. Dias: Ramachandra Acharya; John Rebello, Shekhara N. Kotian, Raghurama Naik and Simon D’Costa of Borivali Yatri Sangha were present in the team.

I am a frequent traveler from Vasco to Barkur. Even there are lot of people travel from Vasco to U.K.Dist,udupi and D.K. Please demand for Vasco - mangalore back passenger train. There is no proper transport facility available from Madgaon railway station to Vasco. There is no use of Inter city train from mangalore to madgaon. Also extend Mangalore - Madgaon(morning)passenger train up to Vasco-da-gama. Agree[0]
