Print Congress goodies can’t be believed, says  Sulochana Bhat
Flaying the Central government for not helping the women community, BJP State Vice President Sulochana G K Bhat said that the women folk community in Karnataka will not go by the fake promises of the Congress in this election.
Speaking to media persons on Thursday, she alleged the Congress led UPA government of hiking the price of basic goods and commodities and cutting down the subsidy given to LPG.
The Central government has also decided to cut down the quantity of distribution of rice and wheat given to BPL card holders. The Congress’s new assurance mentioned in its election manifesto, of giving 30 kg rice at a cost of Rs one per kg to the poor can not be believed, Bhat said.
Boosting the contribution of the BJP led State government towards the welfare of women, she said that the State government has implemented several schemes for women like Thayi Bhagya Yojane, Bhagya Lakshmi Yojane, stipend to girl students belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities , allocation of Rs 20 crore for 2,40,000 beneficiaries under Udyogini scheme to name a few.
“Several women colleges were opened in the State and the existing pre-university colleges were upgraded. As many as 74 girls residential schools were started on the lines of Kasthurba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya. Over 60,000 women have been provided self-employment under 4,186 self-help groups exclusively for women belonging to minority communities. Loan facilities with less interest rates have been provided to fisher women and separate rest rooms have been built fisher women in the fish markets,” Sulochana Bhat claimed.
She also gave the credit to the BJP for bringing in 50 per cent reservation to women in urban local bodies.
