TUV Rheinland and CCOE (Cairn Centre of Excellence), institution by Cairn India, Sign Agreement for Skill Training

TUV Rheinland would provide world class training at the state-of-the-art Cairn Centre of Excellence being set up in Jodhpur

Mumbai, 30th April’13: Germany based TÜV Rheinland, a worldwide leader in Testing, Inspection, Certification, Training & Consulting, announced that it has signed a contract with Cairn Centre of Excellence (CCOE), an institution set up by Cairn India, to provide world class training at the state-of-the-art facility, in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, with an objective to decrease the huge advanced skills-set gap faced by the industry and also increase the standard of living in the society. Cairn India, part of the Vedanta Group, is primarily engaged in the business of oil and gas exploration, production and transportation.

The training to be provided at the CCOE would have a three vertical model – Vocational training, Education training, Open house training & seminars. The training course accreditations will be from Edexcel, UK, an agency whose accreditation is accepted around the globe. Placement focused training, local industries and corporate participation will ensure that the purpose of the training centre is met.

The Contract for the Centre was recently signed between CCOE and TUV Rheinland in Berlin, Germany during a special ceremony in the presence of Mr Jaipal Reddy, Union Minister for Science & Technology, Mr Pallam Raju, Union Minister for Human Resources Development, Ms Johanna Wanka, Federal Minister of Education and Research, Germany and many other senior officials and dignitaries from both the Indian and German side.

Announcing the pact with CCOE, supported by Cairn India, Mr. Enrico Rühle, Managing Director, TUV Rheinland India, said “More than 50% of India’s population is below the age of 25 and only 5% of the total workforce have undergone skills training. This offers a great opportunity for India to meet global demand and become a worldwide sourcing hub for skilled workforce.The quality and scope of training to be provided in the CCOE by TUV Rheinland is a major step in this direction.”

This training centre will be equipped to train around 1000 participants in the first two years alone. Some of the trainings under vocational Training would be – Basic welding, advanced welding, IWT/IWE, basic automobile maintenance, advanced technologies in automobiles, windmill maintenance, Photovoltaic installation & maintenance, health and safety,  retail operations etc. Some of the open house programs would be reliability engineering, energy management, Lean six sigma, lead auditors course on QMS/EMS/ISMS, good shop floor practices etc. Education trainings would have programs like short term diploma/certification programs on Six Sigma, soft skills training etc.
