Bangalore students top CET
The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) announced the results of Common Entrance Test (CET) on Tuesday. The exam was held on May 1, 2013, in 287 centres across the state.
Announcing the results here, Minister of Higher Education R V Deshpande said the state government had decided to fund the entire course fee for the top five scorers in CET from this year onwards in both the physics, chemistry and mathematics (PCM) and the physics, chemistry and biology (PCB) categories.
The top three ranks in PCM and the top rank in PCB stream were secured by students from Bangalore. Hemanth Amardeep Santhoo (95.55 per cent) from National Public School, Indiranagar, got the first rank in CET for medical and Prajwal K A with an aggregate of 98.05 per cent of Vidyavardhaka Sangha, Sardar Patel PU College, in the city, secured the top rank for the engineering streams. In fact, the first three toppers in PCM were all students of Bangalore’s Vidyavardhaka College.
The second rank in engineering was secured by Sucheth S Kuncham (97.55 per cent) and the third rank went to Manu S H (96.72 per cent).
The second rank in medical was secured by Medha Narayana Rao (93.88 per cent) from Expert PU College in Mangalore, while the third position went to Vivek B Maleyur (92.22 per cent) from Vidyaashram PU College, Mysore.
The three toppers in medical stream also topped the homeopathy and Indian system of medicines streams. Students from Chitradurga, Mangalore, Hassan and Mysore also fared well.
Out of the 1,37,560 who appeared for the CET, 38,623 were declared qualified for medical and dental courses, 68,943 for ISM and homeopathy and 91,808 for engineering.
In the first CET for agriculture and allied subjects, as many as 74,737 were declared eligible for BSc agricultural sciences, 72,394 for veterinary sciences, 73,316 for B Tech (food) and 10,0498 candidates for B Tech (agri). For architecture, 816 students were eligible. According to KEA officials, all the scanned OMR sheets of the candidates, along with the evaluation report, would be available on the KEA website.
If any discrepancies are found in the marks displayed, students can report the same at keauthority-ka@nic.in before their document verification schedule. In cases where the results are withheld or not announced, the photocopy of the document will have to be submitted to the KEA from May 29, 2013, onwards through the department mail id mentioned above.
Also, if there is variation of marks in the board exam after revaluation, fresh ranks will be declared after the results. This will be done between the KEA and PU department officials, and the candidates will not be required to visit the KEA office.
The KEA will begin verification of documents from June 6, 2013, at various designated helpline centres. After verification, students will be given an acknowledgment card, verification slip with secret key word and audio visual CD with training session for online counselling. The details can be found on the authority’s website. The option entry will begin on June 15 and continue till June 26.
