All those Tulu enthusiasts who wish to be informed about the regular activities of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy can now learn the Academy details online by just keying in on to www.tuluacademy.org

The official website of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy was launched at the Academy Chavadi here on Saturday. In his introductory remarks, Academy President Palthadi Ramakrishna Achar said that though the order to start the website was given by the government last year, owing to few obstacles, there was delay in launching the website.

The website enables Tuluvas residing abroad and far away places to update themselves with Academy activities.

Meanwhile, Achar put forth a plea to the government asking to sanction Rs 2 crore for the construction of independent Academy office, a hall and a library. “Currently we are tenants in MCC, and are expected to pay rent to the City Corporation for occupying the space. As per our request, the Academy has been granted with 50 cents land in Urwa.

Now we are in need of Rs 2 crore for the construction of independent building in the provided land,” he said.

Presiding over the function, Assembly Deputy Speaker MLA N Yogish Bhat assured of trying his best to sanction the needed amount for the office construction.
He also informed that the grant which was limited to Rs 7 lakh earlier has been now increased to Rs 40 lakh.
