Mumbai’s Malad (W) based Gandhi Vichar Manch, had announced a march “Interlink rivers & Save water, Save Zindagi Padayatra’, from Gateway of India to Mumbai Central Station after that by train Mumbai to Delhi than Delhi Station to India Gate by padayatra, on 25th June 2013 at 11 A.M., to bring focus to the problem of frequent floods and water shortages around the country. Manch’s chairman Manmohan Gupta, 65, who is a social activist, wants water bodies to be linked in India to alleviate drought and flooding which leads to loss of human lives.

Manmohan Gupta says "Water is the most important need of the hour for every person in this country. We have cases of acute water shortages across the country this year – one of the most devastating droughts over the last couple of decades. Farmers are committing suicides; villagers are migrating to cities, unemployment on the rise, premature deaths, huge loss to the Indian economy, etc.It’s time we collectively raised our voice to save water so that our brothers in remote villages and towns don’t suffer in the long run.

“I thank railways for hearing me out”-Manmohan Gupta

Mumbai.For many years Malad West based Gandhi Vichar Manch’s Chairman Manmohan Gupta has been trying to make government see the issues relating to Mumbai local trains. One of his frequent demands is to add automatic doors like the ones on Mono Rail to the locals to reduce fatalities.

Now Rail Vikas Nigam has ordered feasibility of local coaches with automatic doors and better ventilation. It might take few more years to introduce such compartments, but Manmohan Gupta thanks the railways for it. He Says “I thank railways for hearing me out. I also thank Sanjay Nirupam to take the cause to the government. I also thank all the people who supported me in this issue."
