Dubai-based hotelier Peter Haag and his fiancee Bollywood actress Celina Jaitley spill the beans on their upcoming marriage

Dubai: Following her engagement to Dubai-based hotelier Peter Haag last year on October 14, XPRESS can reveal that Bollywood actress Celina Jaitley has her eyes set on Dubai as a possible venue for the couple’s wedding later this year.

Although "very private about our personal life, the happy occasion will be shared by all," say Haag and Jaitley in an email to XPRESS, adding, "We hope to be able to choose wonderful Dubai as one of the venues of our blessed union."

The Bollywood actress who was engaged to a Swiss man named Alex eight years ago, met Austrian hotelier Haag, who works as sales and marketing director of F&B at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, during a holiday in Dubai.

Secret affair

Sparks flew and before long, the couple began their clandestine affair. "We are very much together," said the couple. "We exchanged rings in a small ceremony together in Mumbai during the festival of Durga Puja with both our first families present," say Haag and Jaitley.

Although very private about his personal life, Haag is being pulled into the media spotlight following the engagement. Ishita Tyagi, Haag’s PR person in Mumbai, said, "Peter is extremely camera shy. He isn’t used to his life being flashed in the tabloids. For that reason alone, Celina, 29, remains the couple’s spokesperson. Peter said he would leave the talking to Celina as she’s been in the limelight a long time and is used to the constant attention. Peter, on the other hand, wouldn’t know where to begin or what to say."

The couple spent 10 months getting to know each other before Haag popped the question. And despite dropping hints on wedding venues, the couple admits that it may be another year until those wedding bells chime. Although Dubai is on the cards for a reception, as Haag is based here, the city may be one of the venues, with Egypt rumoured to be another.

"As Celina is India’s tourism ambassador to Egypt, the couple are also considering tying the knot there," says Tyagi, on behalf of the couple.

The wedding is scheduled for the end of 2011, giving Haag nearly 11 months to overcome his media shyness. His fiancee is the first to admit that Haag, who has spent the last nine years working in Dubai, is not comfortable with the media glare, indicating that by the end of the year he will have no choice but to get used to it.

The couple currently own a house in Dubai, although they refuse to comment on its location and whether Jaitley will join Peter in Dubai post-marriage. If Jaitley’s remark that Haag doesn’t want to visit India often is to be believed, chances are the couple will spend a large part of their wedded life in Dubai.
