Less than a month after Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was appointed BJP’s chief campaigner for the next Lok Sabha elections, the BJP is likely to put its campaign plans on the fast track by setting up of four informal sub-committees to execute different dimensions of the party’s campaign.

For this purpose, Modi will brainstorm on broad contours of his campaign strategy with the BJP parliamentary board on July 4 before holding a meeting of the party’s general secretaries and members of the programme implementation and co-ordination committee on the same day to chart out programmes on specific action points.

The party’s top brass will brainstorm on four broad categories — election rallies, election management, election campaign and election manifesto — at the meetings, sources told The Indian Express. "These are the four broad dimensions identified for action for which groups of leaders may be assigned to work on," confided a party leader slated to attend the July 4 meeting.

Party sources, however, claimed that Modi has so far not indicated whether he will constitute a separate "election campaign committee" committee. They, in fact, indicated that he may use the services of party general secretaries and members the programme implementation and co-ordination committee in handling the four different aspects of the campaign strategy as a proxy for his election campaign committee.

"The very fact that he has not so far announced a campaign committee and decided to work through general secretaries and party’s programme implementation and co-ordination committee reflects his willingness to work in tandem with the party organisation before he proceeds further. That he wants to discuss his ideas within the parliamentary board ahead of his meeting with the general secretaries and other office-bearers further reflects his willingness to take everyone on board," said another party functionary who would be attending the July 4 meeting.

Sources said there are about 15 specific action points for which the July 4 meeting is likely to "chart out" implementation mechanism or framework in a time-bound manner.

These action points include working out a state-wise and national "time-table" for various people-to-worker engagement programmes, striking a coordination between party’s "IT teams" across various units, recruiting "youth volunteers" in addition to party workers for the elections and formulation of "chargesheet" against incumbent non-NDA governments across states by August 15.
