Workshop on human rights at Udupi from August 3

Print MANGALORE: Human Rights Protection Foundation, Udupi will organize a free two-day workshop for people interested in human rights at VaikuntaBaliga College of Law, Udupi from August 3.
AmruthaKakodkar and NiveditaBaliga, programmecoordinators, said that this is the second such workshop in the year and the deliberations on the topics will be in English. Training materials, working lunch as well as accommodation will be provided to all the participants.
Syllabus for the workshop will include topics on child abuse, understanding the dynamics of child sexual abuse, empowering the weaker sections of the society, analysis of consumer behaviour, violence against women, how to preserve the sanctity of doctor-patient relationship, how to guide an aggrieved consumer, public interest litigation, how to tackle the street dog menace, how to improve police - public relationship, how to protect young entrepreneurs from bureaucratic clutches and Right to Information Act.
The foundation and Consumer’s Forum, Basrur have been actively guiding people whenever their rights are in jeopardy. The main objective of these two organizations is to provide a viable alternative to the over burdened judiciary when the state cannot guarantee timely justice to a citizen, especially those from poorer sections of the society.
The foundation has chalked out a year-long project to achieve the goal. Seminars, practical demonstrations and classes will be conducted in every school and college in the coastal districts.
