Print Leader of the Opposition H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday took the House by surprise by saying that former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa would not have been sitting in the Opposition benches had he made some ‘adjustments’ with JD(S) while in power.
While participating in a discussion on the budget proposals, the JD(S) leader said Yeddyurappa was chief minister only for three years because he trusted undeserving people.
Complimenting the KJP chief, Kumaraswamy said he appreciated Yeddyurappa’s decision as chief minister to offer subsidy of Rs two a litre of milk to farmers and launching Suvarna Bhoomi scheme.
“But, he erred by not taking us into confidence. He should have given primacy to constituencies represented by JD(S) MLAs too. He politicised the plan to establish Rajiv Gandhi Health University in Ramanagara and sanctioning of funds for JD-S’ legislators’ constituencies.
I had exposed certain administrative decisions he had taken. Any how, both of us (himself and Yeddyurappa) are now attending court cases while you (Congress) are sitting relaxed,” he said. Yeddyurappa who was in the House, however, remained silent.
He clarified that what he meant was that if Yeddyurappa had consulted the JD(S), then suggestions would have been given to him for effective implementation of programmes. At this juncture, Ramesh Kumar (Cong) in a lighter vein said that consulting astrologers caused problems for Yeddyurappa and Kumaraswamy.
“If an astrologer assures Kumaraswamy that he would be chief minister for seven years, the astrologer’s brother would tell Yeddyurappa that he would be in power for 13 years. But, Siddaramaiah did not consult anyone and he is in power.”
