Ullal:Attacks, counter attacks leave Ullal tense
MANGALORE: Tension prevailed in Ullal area on Tuesday night after there two youth were assaulted by a group of miscreants at Mogaveerapatna beach in the Ullal police station limits, which was followed by counter attack on two youth by another gang. Both attacks happened without any provocation. The situation has returned to normal as on Wednesday.
?Police have arrested one person in connection with the second attack. These attacks led to a tense atmosphere in the sensitive area after a group of miscreants pelted stones on some vehicles at Kodi near Ullal. The injured who have been hospitalised are Kotepura residents Mohammed Nasir (25) and Mohammed Ashfaq (22), who were attacked first at Mogaveerapatna, while Lathesh and Shahaan, both in their mid twenties, were injured in the second attack at Bastipadpu. Police on Wednesday arrested one person pertaining to the second attack. He was identified as Jabbi alias Mohammed Kabeer (20) Kotepura.
The injured ae recovering at a private hospital. Ashfaq said that a five member group assaulted him and Nasir (24) while they were walking on the beach. While Ashfaq was hit on his head with an iron rod, Nasir was slapped hard by the miscreants.
They were saved by the local fishermen while the miscreants tried to drag them towards the sea. Incidentally one of the attackers jumped into the waters and swam towards Bengre to escape from the people who came to the rescue of the victims. While this incident happened around 5.30 pm, Lathesh and Shahaan were attacked by a gang at Bastipadpu at 8pm.
