Actor openly says that the movie was 100 percent deserving

The news of ‘The Lunchbox’ not making it to the Oscars, while a regional Gujarati movie ‘The Good Road’ being the official entry came as a shock to a lot of audiences and even the filmmakers.

‘The Lunchbox’ that has been acclaimed internationally in Cannes as well as by the audience is a joint venture by big honchos like Karan Johar, Siddharth Roy Kapoor, Ronnie Screwvala and Anurag Kashyap starring Irrfan Khan, Nirmat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. When the news broke out these producers took their disappointment to a social networking site, as Karan Johar said, “Really shocked and disappointed. ‘Lunchbox’ had every factor working in its favour. We may have just lost our golden chance. Sad!” And on the other hand Anurag Kashyap disapproved the jury’s decision saying, “I don’t know who the federation is but it goes to show, why we completely lack the understanding to make films that can travel across borders. Feeling very, very disappointed, can’t comment on the film I have not seen, but it better make it to final five. I hope and pray I am wrong and it actually is a film that knocks the socks off everyone.”

The latest news being rumored is that Anurag has left Twitter for the same reason and lastly tweeted “Bye bye Twitter. Enough feeding the wannabe journals.” However, the actors of the film have more or less the same reaction to it. Nawazuddin Siddiqui who plays a major role says, “There is a lot of disappointment. We had a lot of expectations from the film. It was being appreciated everywhere around the world!” and further adds, “I obviously totally support regional films but when it comes to Oscars, a deserving film should go. I haven’t seen the movie so I can’t say much about it but ‘The Lunchbox’ was 100% deserving.”

The leading debutante, Nimrat Kaur on the other hand seems to be pleased with the success of the film saying, “It feels really nice. We started filming at script level and we didn’t have a big budget. But the movie has been liked by all.”
