In a disturbing incident, a man bludgeoned his wife to death on early hours of Tuesday, in the city.
Amit, aged 36 years and car driver by profession beat his wife Priya (32) to death, with a sickle near a five star hotel off JLB road at 5.30 am. He later surrendered himself at jurisdictional Devaraja police station. Though the reasons behind the incident is said to be incompatibility in the relationship, it is said that Amit was in dire straits. He was also doubting his wife’s fidelity.
Priya who was working as a housekeeping staff at Hotel Regaalis, a five star hotel, was entering the hotel through the backside gate facing the quarters of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC and RI), when she was stopped by her husband.
After the wordy duel, Amit pulled out the sickle and hit his wife’s neck resulting in her death later. Priya fought her husband back, and also pushed him to the ground, injuring him in the process.
The couple who have been married for 10 years have two sons. It was a love marriage. Following differences, the couple was living separately for the past two years. Priya was living with her parents at Belagola, while Amit was staying in Hinkal.
Amit who was in heavy debt, had sought his wife’s help. Priya had also helped him by arranging up to Rs two lakh.
On Monday too, Amit went to his estranged wife for help, but priya had not indulged him. Irked, Amit had allegedly threatened to get rid of her. On Tuesday, he boarded the same bus his wife took to her work place.
He made a vain bid to speak to her in the bus. After Priya alighted at Metropole Circle, Amit followed her, hacked her to death. A case has been registered.

Over the years mysore had always witness an era of changes in the culture,tourism and hospitality.Mysore takes this pride and honour but still there needs to be some sort of pro activeness to be cultivated in our administration and our own peoples too.
When some good peoples are trying hard to take some stands, thousands of people stands against them with no good reasons.If someone would like to know how AAP won in this predefeat election, you have to visit the streets and slums of Delhi, you may hardly find AAP offices in posh areas or towns, they are located in the slums of delhi with a slogan AAM aadmi apke liye .I m not a good admirer of Kejriwal but my point is why AAP is sleeping in mysore which was elevated for the same cause. Peoples are still scared to enter in govt offices, cant we have a small cabin for customer complaint and instant answer.
Mysore is a tourist oriented city but we don’t find any peoples friendly concierge in the city and ultimately they have to depend upon goggles.
Hotels and Restaurants have to come one step further and ensure that standard of service are well maintained.Our roads are still horrible to travel in the night.
