Special entry passes will be issued to residents and guests; RTA buses, taxis will shuttle party revellers attending Sandance and other parties on the island

With all roads leading to Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah this New Year’s Eve for the biggest fireworks display the world has ever seen, organisers have announced that access will be limited to the manmade island.

Organisers of the Dubai World Record 2014 have confirmed on the official website that residents, guests and people with special passes will be allowed on the island at certain hours, with access on The Palm closed post 10.30pm, citing safety reasons.

Meanwhile, organisers of Sandance NYE, the biggest party at Nasimi Beach have also stated that the registration process will organised off-site, with the Roads and Transport Authority scheduling special shuttle buses to ferry people to the venue, from 5pm onwards.

As Dubai attempts to break The Guinness World Record for the ‘World’s Largest Fireworks Display’ on December 31, with a six-minute display choreographed across the whole of The Palm Jumeirah and The World Islands, organisers of Dubai World Record 2014 have posted details on the official website on accessibility status and how people can reach their destinations on the night.

The alert states: ‘A number of traffic management measures have been taken into consideration for the December 31st… Access to The Palm Jumeirah will be limited to Event Pass Holders and as per timings listed’.

From 8am, access will be limited to pass holders, taxis and shuttle buses only.

From 9pm, access will be further limited to RTA taxis and shuttle buses.

At 10.30pm, all access will be blocked.

The roads will reopen at 1am to pass holders, taxis and shuttle buses only.

All restrictions will be lifted from 6am on January 1.

Meanwhile, when Emirates 24|7 called the Sandance NYE information number, we were told: “There will be checkpoints in place on The Palm on December 31, hence the registration process that actually takes place at the venue, will be shifted off site to Dubai Media City on the day. It could possibly be the American University of Dubai, but further details will be confirmed in a day or so.”

They added: “The registration process will commence from 5pm, with specially appointed RTA buses on hand to shuttle people to Nasimi Beach for Sandance.

“Once the fireworks display is over, the RTA buses will allow people to leave the venue from 1am onwards or so.”

Meanwhile, deliveries to The Palm Jumeirah will also be restricted on the night from 5pm onwards, unless holding an Event Pass.

The organisers have also stated that the Monorail will be closed from December 26 until January 2.

The world record-breaking attempt will cover a distance of around 100km of seafront and feature over 400,000 colourful fireworks and a series of scenes designed exclusively for the show and set to a musical soundtrack designed for the event.

Visible from vantage points across Dubai, all hotels on The Palm Jumeirah will be hosting parties and events to celebrate their involvement in the world record attempt, state organisers.

But as the fireworks will be fired from numerous locations around the island, the trunk road, the crescent road, the monorail and the water between the fronds in the crown area, the police will be creating safety zone around these locations, state organisers.

For those unable to catch the world record attempt live, will be able to catch it on Dubai One on the night.
