Hate speech: Left party urge arrest of RSS leader
MANGALORE: CPI(M) members held a protest in front of deputy commissioner’s office urging the government to arrest and book under Goonda Act RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat for his alleged hate speech.
Bhat had allegedly delivered a hate speech at a meeting in Gurupur recently. CPI(M) state secretary GV Sriram Reddy said that left parties will intensify protest if the government does not arrest Bhat. "India has a diverse culture with large number of communities. Communal forces are trying to break the unity among people in the society. We will not tolerate attack on individuals’ rights," Reddy said.
"Let chief minister Siddaramaiah resign from his position if the government has no power to arrest Bhat," Reddy and questioned as to whether the government is controlled by chauvinists.
He said that no one has the right to question youths, who chat with their friends, in the name of moral policing. "Who gave Hindu and Muslim fundamental organisations the right to thrash youths? This is a democratic country, where all have their individual freedom and no one has the right to question it," he said and urged the police to book Bhat under Goonda Act.
