Relatives hack woman to death
A 40-year-old woman was murdered in front of her ailing father, allegedly by her two relatives over a property dispute in Cottonpet police limits on Friday evening.
The victim, Geetha, was a resident of K Veerabhadrappa Lane, Akkipet.
Her two relatives – Narendra Kumar and Jithendra – surrendered before the police hours after the murder and said that they hacked her to death due to a property dispute, the police said.
Geetha was married to Deepak for 20 years and the couple have no children. Geetha owned a five-storey building and was staying with her father Shankarappa, who suffered a paralytic stroke recently, in the ground floor.
Deepak was not at his house when the murder occurred, the police said.
“I heard someone cry from inside and rushed to Geetha’s house,” Munawar, a neighbour, who runs a roadside stall, said.
“I saw two middle-aged youths coming out of the house holding lethal weapons. They vanished once they spotted me. I entered the house and saw Geetha lying in a pool of blood,” Munawar added.
Narendra and Jithendra gained entry inside the house and picked a quarrel with Geetha.
The duo later hacked her with a machete. Geetha sustained serious injuries on her head, chest and back.
She collapsed and died on the spot, Shankarappa told the police.
