Yeddyurappa rules out a national role

MANGALORE: Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, recently back in to the BJP fold is not yet envisioning a national role for himself or any immediate member of his family. This he amplified when he categorically asserted that neither he nor his son BY Raghavendra, the sitting MP from Shimoga would enter political fray in the forthcoming general elections from Shimoga and instead would plump for a suitable candidate for that constituency.
Taking a break from his routine of hoisting the flag on the occasion of Republic Day in Shikaripura, his political home town in Shimoga district, Yeddyurappa who hoisted the flag with members of the Laughter Club and Lions Club at Kadri Park here interacting with the media said, "It is my endeavour to ensure that a suitable candidate is fielded from Shimoga parliamentary constituency. Neither me nor Raghavendra will contest from Shimoga."
Asserting that his immediate goal is to pay due attention to the organisational aspect of the party ahead of the general elections, Yeddyurappa said, "It is also the endeavour of every BJP worker to ensure that the party’s prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi comes to power at Delhi." Yeddyurappa infact missed his Shikaripura Republic Day flag hoisting routine as he was pencilled in to participate in a party workers meeting at Bantwal.
On reports that the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI had vowed to eliminate Modi, the former CM said, "Electorate of this country will give a fitting reply to such nefarious designs on part of any foreign power." It is not the business of any nation to interfere in the internal affairs of the country in general and BJP in particular, he said, adding that BJP is entitled to choose its prime ministerial candidate and does not need permission of anyone to do so.
