’Chai pe charcha’ brings Modi’s fans to New Tajmahal Cafe

Print MANGALORE: Namma Kudla was lined up to go first in ’Chai Pe Charcha’ with BJPs PM candidate Narendra Modi, but a technical glitch saw other locations across India jump the queue. Modi’s footpath parliament kept people engrossed in this coastal city.
Glancing nervously into her smart phone and ready to make her suggestion to Modi, Nishmitha Prabhu, final year BCA student of SDM College gave suggestions to Modi.
Her first suggestion was to have an accountability platform for both politicians and elected representatives and for a status report on it.
Her other suggestion was to create an online system where netizens could post their grievances, suggestions or complaints. While Nishmitha was given this opportunity.
There were scores like her - young and old alike - who flocked to New Tajmahal Cafe, one of the three locations in south India - other being Bangalore and Thiruvananthapuram, where people had an opportunity to interact with Modi. Paucity of time and logistics meant only Nishmitha could go live.
For Pundalika Kamath, member of Citizens for Accountable Governance, it was the opportunity to work for a cause that saw him quit his job in Adecco and join the group. Incidentally, CAG shot into the nationwide limelight with Modi’s pet project of statue of unity, Pundalika said, adding he will be on board the group that is expected to handle good part of Modi’s campaign in the run up to general elections. And the gathering without doubt went back having a cup of chai.
