Kidnap, blackmail case: Police to file chargesheet on Wednesday

Print MANGALORE: The Mangalore city police will file the chargesheet pertaining to the Deralakatte kidnap and blackmail case to the court here on Wednesday.
ACP South Pavan Nejjur told TOI the chargesheet was in the final stages of preparations and will be submitted to the court on Wednesday.
Regarding the specific contents of the chargesheet like the witnesses etc, Nejjur said it is still in the final process of preparation.
The eight accused in the case, police said were denied bail by the court here a few days back.
In the third week of December, the police had busted a gang that kidnapped two students of private college forced them into sexual act, filmed the same and blackmailed them to keep this under wraps. The gang had demanded Rs 25 lakh from the students and threatened to upload the same on the internet, social networking sites as well as inform their parents and the principal of the college where they studied.
According to complaint lodged in Konaje police station, the gang of eight accosted the two students from Meeting Point Bar and Restaurant near Sri Ayyappa Bhajana Mandir at Deralakatte on December 18 at 11pm. The accused allegedly abused the students and forcibly took them to a desolate house at a desolate place. Here, the accused directed the students to indulge in sexual act. When they refused, they were threatened with life.
The gang later filmed their sexual act performed under duress using their mobile phones. The accused later let off the girl near Thokottu and directed her to bring Rs 3 lakh failing which her friend would be killed. Based on leads available, police nabbed the accused.
Both the victims have identified the accused through an ID parade conducted using video conference arranged by the National Informatics Centre, New Delhi in February first week.
