21 March’14, Mumbai: Shemaroo Entertainment brings for its audience a great collection of the music duo Shankar Jaikishan in a 3 DVD pack titled101 Shankar Jaikishan Hits.. The compilation featuring Original Videos from Hindi films is a part of the popular 101 series released by the company earlier. Shemaroo’s previous titles on composers, viz. 101 R.D.Burman Hits & 101 Laxmikant Pyarelal Hits have been very well appreciated by music lovers & it was only natural to release the melodies of the Original Melody Makers – Shankar Jaikishan, without whom the series would not have been complete. Shankar Jaikishan areknown to have revolutionized the use of ORCHESTRA and INTERLUDE music in songs and made these as integral and inseparable parts of their compositions rather than using them as mere fillers.. The Duo ensured that their music sounded `larger than life’ through their King-Size Orchestra. The duo worked most closely with Raj Kapoor and were considered the kingpins of his legendary banner RK Films. Shankar Jaikishan werenot only honored with the Padmashri by the Government of India but also with 9 Filmfare awards.
101 Hits of Shankar Jaikishan features a varied range of their work. Besides their popular songs composed for RK films like “Barsaat’, “Awara”, “Shree 420”, “Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai”, “Sangam”, “Mera Naam Joker” & “Kal Aaj Aur Kal”, the compilation also features Evergreen Melodies from non R K Films like “Hariyali aur Rasta”, “ Teesri Kasam”, “Jhuk Gaya Aasman”, “Mere Huzoor” and many more.
