Pollywood’s much-awaited gripping narrative ‘47 to 84’ - Hun main kisnu watan kahunga gets set for release on May 30

A realistic movie by Shemaroo based on true accounts of suffering and life-changing incidents of partition and the anti-Sikh Genocide of 1984 Punjab.

Mumbai, 3rd April: By gone are the times of comedy and it is replaced by a realistic Punjabi movie titled “47 to 84-Hun Main Kisnu Watan Kahunga” that will take you back into the past and narrate the harrowing times of partition and the anti-Sikh Genocide that still haunt the entire Sikh community. Directed by Rajiv Sharma who won a national award for ’Nabar’, the story of the movie that is all set to release on May 30 has been scripted by Lally Gill.

“We are very happy to announce the release date of the movie that will usher in a change for the industry. We seek support from the public as we bring a very sensitive topic in front of them. We are aware that we may face some hurdles in the process, but we are very optimistic and are ready to fightthem.” said Presenter Babli Singh from Shemaroo.

Initiating a new benchmark for the Punjabi film industry as a medium to change mindsets and spread peace, the filmmakers have also launched a unique campaign titled ‘Stories of 84’ that invites all survivors of the 1984 riots to share their experiences through photos, videos, articles and other mediums and a compilation of the same would be exhibited by the filmmakers. This movie is going to be a refreshing take on the journey of a little girl through the traumatic times of India – Pakistan partition and then when her life was heading to normalcy, the 84 genocide happened. ”47to 84-Hun Main Kisnu Watan Kahunga” is a story of a nine-year-old girl named Sukhmani. She gets to witness the partition at this tender age and then the 1984 Genocide. She decides to pen down a book on the various events of her life. Thus comes into being ‘47 to 84’ that also happens to be the name of the book that she writes.

Coming from the stable of Shemaroo that has to its credit many blockbuster movies, the music has already gained popularity.
“The audience has been waiting since long for something realistic and different. Come May 30 and that wait will come to an end and we are sure that the audience will give us their love and support for ‘47 to 84’,” concluded director Rajiv Sharma.
