MANGALORE: After Dhoom, it’s Dollar Arm.

A games-specialist arm of the Udupi-based Robosoft Technologies is set to make Hollywood foray when it releases a game based on Walt Disney Pictures’ next venture ’Million Dollar Arm’ on May 6, some 10 days before the movie’s release.

Games specialist Robosoft made waves some time ago when it created ’Dhoom3: The Game’, which saw over 11 million downloads. Robosoft’s game-publishing subsidiary, 99Games Online, will release the game on Android, iOS, Windows phone and BlackBerry platforms.

The movie is inspired by a real-life story where sports agent JB Bernstein discovers India’s first professional baseball players Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel, who eventually sign up for the Major League Baseball.

99Games producer Anila Andrade told TOI: "The game has been uploaded on Windows, iOS and Google Play, and is available from May 6." How did the plan come through? "The IP owner of the ’Million Dollar Arm’, Seven Figures Management (7FM), asked us on Feb 28 if we were interested in the gaming rights. We liked the concept and opportunity, and decided to go ahead. We did know it would be a humongous challenge."

Even as the negotiations were on, 99Games set up a team to start the groundwork on 7FM’s vision. "We had some thoughts - the game should be simple, addictive and lend itself well to the core theme of the IP. And 7FM liked our concepts. The formal agreement was signed in the first week of April," she said.

The team’s real challenge was the deadline of less than a month. "We needed to have it ready on stores before the movie release. We kept sending game’s iterations to 7FM to see if it fits the plan. They promptly replied with feedbacks and approvals,’’ she noted.
