Karandlaje promises to raise issues related to encroachment, in Parliament

Newly elected Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Shobha Karandlaje has promised of raising her voice seeking solutions to various problems of Udupi and Chikkmagalur districts. 

She was speaking to mediapersons after ‘Shobhayatre,’ organised by the BJP to celebrate victory in the city on Saturday.

When questioned on whether she will get a ministerial berth, she said that the matter will not be discussed in the state-level, but the decision will be taken by Narendra Modi and party’s national president. “I am not an aspirant for ministerial berth,” she said.

On further questioning her if the chances were bright for her to get the post as she is the only woman MP from the party to be elected from South India, she replied “I am still young and I have become the MP for the first time. There are senior MPs in the State like Anantha Kumar and D V Sadananda Gowda.”

Commenting on her victory, Shobha said that the people of her constituency have won her with an unexpected margin of votes. People wanted Modi to become the prime minister, therefore the party could win majority. Voters have made way for the BJP to form the government without any outside support. Modi will stress on development and security of the country,” she said.

Party leaders and workers carried out a procession in Chikmagalur city. Wearing a hat with lotus picture, Shobha folding her palm thanked the public who were standing on both sides of the road to witness the procession. The procession which started at Hanumanthappa Circle reached Azad Circle.

Party workers burst crackers to celebrate the victory. Women and leaders danced to the tune of Nasik doll. Shop owners garlanded and congratulated her. In return, Shobha promised of raising issues such as problems faced by areca and coffee growers and land encroachment in the parliament.  

“I will do my best to give justice to women by bringing to fore the problems faced by them. People here have voted irrespective of caste and creed,” she said. The party workers meet was held at the BJP office Panchajanya.
