Four students die in Bolero-Rajhamsa collision at Hasan

Hassan/Udupi : Four boys including one from Udupi died on the spot and one person was grievously injured in car-rajahamsa bus collision at Hassan on Saturday, October 18.

The deceased are Varun (21) from Udupi, Likith Gowda (21) from Hassan, Amogha (21) and Adarsha (21) of Chikmagalur, while the injured is Garuda (22).

It is said that five students from Malnad Engineering College had gone out in their Bolero Car on Friday, October 17. On Saturday when they were returning to Hassan, a KSRTC travelling to Mangalore collided head-on near the bus stop. While the four boys died on the spot, Garuda had to be pulled out from the wreckage. He was then taken to the Government Hospital. His condition is said to be critical.

Udupi : Yuva Sene warns of protest as youth dies due to  medical negligence

Udupi : Alleging medical negligence, which led to the death of a 18-year-old student Karthik Shetty, the leaders of Udupi District Vidyarthi Yuva Sene have threatened to convene a protest if culprits are not punished.

Karje resident Karthik Shetty was a student of Hebri Government Pre-University College. Karthik had first approached Dr Subrahamanya Shettty at his clinic at Petri of Udupi for undergoing treatment of protruding teeth. However, Dr Shetty referred him to Yenepoya Hospita, Deralkatte, Mangalore, where he underwent surgery on October 4. The surgery was performed by Dr Shehazan and Dr Musthafa. Three days after the surgery Karthik died in the hospital.

Karthik’s uncle Vijay Kumar Shetty filed a case of medical negligence against the hospital at Ullal Police Station. In the complaint he also stated that neither a post mortem was conducted nor any reason was given for his death.

A case has been registered against Dr Musthafa, Dr Shehazan and Dr Subrahamanya Shetty.

Youth from Kerala recruited into ISIS, says RAW

Kasargod: India’s External Intelligence Agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) has put out a startling piece of information that there are strong possibilities of Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) having recruited some youth from Kerala. The information has been passed on the Kerala state government.

It is said that a man from Palakkad has been given the responsibility of luring young men into the terror organisation, which has gripped Iraq and Syrian areas. The RAW and other allied intelligence agencies are reportedly acting to reach to the roots of this information.

Earlier, credible information of youth from Pune and Kashmir having close contacts with the ISIS were also brought out by the RAW.

Praveen Carlo attack case : Three held, one at large

Mangalore : Three persons, including a juvenile were nabbed by the police on Saturday, October 18 in connection to murder attempt case of  Praveen Carlo, said to be a close aide of rowdy-sheeter and underworld don Ravi Poojary.

The arrested are Shishir Poojary (22), employed at a catering firm in Kodialbail, Praveen (22), a painter from Talapady and a juvenile from Suratkal. Another accused having absconded, the hunt for him is on.

Praveen was brutally attacked by gang of four in the outskirts of the city near Vamanjoor on Thursday, October 16. Praveen, who sustained grievous injuries, was admitted to A.J. Hospital Mangalore.

During police interrogation it is revealed that Praveen had abused one of the accused and his parents, which raged him. In turn, he along with three others tried to kill Praveen.
