Mangaluru: Anticipating bundh, miscreants pelt stones at KSRTC bus

Mangaluru: Few unidentified persons pelted stones at KSRTC bus plying from Bangalore to Mangalore at Adyarkatte in the wee hours of Monday, November 3. The miscreants also burnt the tyres at the spot.
 
Speaking to Udayavani English Kankanady police station Inspector Ravish Nayak stated “No arrests have been made so far as the miscreants fled from the spot. As soon as the police were informed about the incident we rushed to the spot and doused the fire. No passengers have been injured in the incident. The KSRTC depot manager has brought the vehicle to the station for inspection.”
 
The police also suspected that the miscreants must have pelted stone anticipating a bundh called for by the Hindu Jagarana Vedike on Monday, which was called off by the organisation.

Six nabbed in Ijaz murder case

Mangaluru : Six persons who were arrested in connection with Ijaz alias Ijja (23) murder case have confessed that Ijaz was killed to avenge the death of their gang member Puthu Mohan, the Police said. 

On October 31, Ijaz was butchered to death in a saloon at Kannur, by six assailants identified as Adyarkatte resident A K Riyaz alias Jiya (33), Kannur Yusufnagar resident Mustaq Ahmed (30), Kannur Borugudde resident Aniz (22), Kannur Balurgudde resident Azman (22) , Kannur Ganadabettu resident Fazal (20) and Shabaz (22).

The arrested have revealed that Ijaz had tricked Puthu Mohan and then killed him two years ago. Further Ijaz was also threatening them every now and then, raged by which they wanted to kill Ijaz. In fact, two futile murder attempts were made on Ijaz. However on October 31, the assailants were determined to make Ijaz to death, that too in full public view.

Jiya, a grit stone dealer had designed the murder plot. He already has nine cases filed against him in various police stations. He is also said to be the friend of Rashid Malabari’s associate Talath.

Another accused  Mushtaq Ahmed, who is a painter by profession has ten cases on him, of which he has been acquitted in five cases.  

Ajman is involved in robbery cases and is said to be a close aide of Talath for the past ten years. 

The six persons were arrested on November 1 when they were on their way to Mangaluru from Moodabiri. 

The accused have now been remanded to 15 days of judicial custody.

Theerthahalli continues to be tense; Prohibitory orders imposed

Theerthahalli: Air of tension continued to engulf Theerthahalli on Sunday, following death of a minor girl on October 31, who was suspected to have been raped by unidentified men in Theerthahalli.

Taking note of the situation the district administration has imposed prohibitory order, which will be in force till Monday from 6 am to 10 pm.
Schools and colleges will remain closed on Monday.
 
Security beefed up

Azad road, Market road, Indira nagar, Balebail and other sensitive areas have been kept under scanner by the police. The entire city has been put under tight vigil and police personnel can be spotted in every nook and corner of the city.

A school going girl was abducted by a gang of men, reportedly belonging to another community, who inebriated her and suspected to have raped her. The girl had died on October 31, which sparked communal tension in Theerthahalli area. On Saturday, Theerthahalli remained closed demanding the arrest of the perpetrators at the earliest.

Incidents of stone pelting were reported from various locations across Theerthahalli. Deputy Commissioner V P Ikkeri and Superintendent of Police Kaushalendra Kumar are in Theerthahalli since Saturday.
 
Peace meet

The DC had even convened a peace meet and said that the police department has to make sure that the perpetrators are booked at the earliest. He urged the general public to maintain peace and ignore rumours.

Meanwhile, an altercation broke out between BJP members and Congressmen at the peace meet as Minister Kimmane Rathnakar held the BJP responsible for the tension prevailing in Theerthahalli. The BJP members on the other hand alleged the Minister of playing politics using a serious issue and demanded his resignation.
 
Koppa bundh

Condemning the case, Akhila Bharath Vidhyarthi Parishat, Vishwa Hindu Parishat, Bajrang Dal and others have called for Koppa bundh on Monday, November 3 from 6 am to 6 pm.
