Ride Dubai supercar taxi for free: Click now for when, how

Rolls Royce, Ferrari, Lamborghini taxis will offer free rides to residents on three weekends

If Dubai grabbed eyeballs and global headlines with its fleet of supercars across its police, ambulance and civil defence departments, could its taxi fleet be far behind?

The Supercar Taxi is the latest in car luxury that will shift gear for Dubai roads, offering residents and tourists a ride of their lives for free.

Added to the fleet are Rolls Royce, Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini and even an AMG G Class Limo.

They will be driven into the spotlight as part of the Dubai Motor Festival, which runs from November 19 until December 6.

Each car in this fleet is worth more than Dh1 million, say organisers, adding the vehicles will be deployed at high footfall areas such as malls, tourist landmarks across the city, offering free one-way rides.

The service will operate on the weekends of November 21-22, 28-29 and December 5-6.

“The Supercar Taxis will offer tourists and residents a dream experience like no other. The idea behind this was to celebrate people’s passion for motoring,” said Jin Chwen Ong, Director, Dubai Motor Festival.

“This is the first of its kind in the world and we want to engage the community. Gauging the response we get, we may extend the experience beyond the weekends it will be available,” he added.

However, those hoping to enjoy free rides to far flung places across the country will have to put a brake on their plans as organisers have stated the taxi service is likely to be limited to the city’s borders. Meanwhile, they also explained that passengers will be chosen at random and the process is still being ironed out.

Over the last year, Dubai Police took centre stage when it unveiled its fleet of supercars that includes a Ferrari, Bentley, Aston Martin and a Mercedes SLS.

Last month, Dubai Ambulance launched a Lotus as its first responder emergency vehicle.

Dubai Civil Defence has meanwhile added a Corvette to its fleet.

More than half a million Saudi men have revealed that they are systematically beaten up by their wives, but most of them will not resort to court.

The complaints by the husbands were revealed by the Riyadh-based Waei Centre for Social Advice, which said it received six new complaints on Monday.

“We have received more than 557,000 complaints by Saudi men who are beaten up by their wives and needed advice,” the centre’s manager Sheikh Adel Al Mutawa said.

“Most of them do not want their names to be known and want to keep the issue as a secret. They just do not want to take their wives to court to avert embarrassment,” he told the Saudi Arabic language daily ‘Sabq’.

Man had 62 wives: Eats raw meat, glass
Abu Shadeed says he also eats fish with bones

Abu Shadeed and some of his sons also eat glass. He plans to take a fourth wife [SUPPLIED]

Abu Shadeed of Egypt married when he was 16-years-old and has so far married 62 women, three of whom are still his legitimate wives.

The man, whose nickname means ‘father of strength’ in English, says he sleeps with his wives five times a day and lives on raw meat and fish with its bones.

Appearing on Egypt’s ’Al Hayat’ satellite TV channel, Abu Shadeed and some of his sons tested viewers’ nerves when they ate glass.

“I eat glass but only as an appetiser. I live on raw meat and fish, which I eat with its bones. I can also eat burning coal,” he said.

Abu Shadeed said he currently has three wives after divorcing the fourth one this year on the grounds she belongs to the Muslim Brotherhood group.

“I have married 62 wives. Most of them married me for my extraordinary energy. I sleep with my wives five times a day,” he said.

“I do not take any stimulants or drugs. It is just a gift from God. I am now planning to have a fourth wife, who should be slim and brown.”

Drivers scramble for flying cash on highway
Police say lock on truck door seems to have malfunctioned

Drivers scrambled to grab money flying around a Maryland highway after an armoured truck door burst open.

aryland State Police say a lock on the truck seems to have malfunctioned, causing the door to open Friday morning.

A bag of cash fell onto Interstate 270 near Urbana and the bills flew in the air.

Police say a number of drivers stopped on the interstate and grabbed what cash they could before a fire department vehicle arrived and turned on its emergency lights.

Responding troopers were able to help the truck’s driver recover about $200. It’s not known how much cash was lost.

Police urge the drivers who took the cash to return it to the state police barracks in Frederick, or else face charges of theft if they’re found.
