Special Tahsildar busts illegal sand mining racket; arrests four and more...

Kadaba : A team led by the Special Tahsildar of Kadaba on Wednesday, November 6 raided the sand mining spots near Ichlampady bridge in Noojibaltala that has been functioning illegally and seized the sand and vehicles used for the purpose. A case has been registered in this regard.
 
In the wake of illegal sand mining here, locals had complained to the Assistant Commissioner of Puttur. On his direction Special Tahsildar Purandar Hegde, Revenue Inspector Narayan Poojary and staff with the help of local police raided the place and seized a tipper, two mini lorries, a pickup and the sand that was loaded in these vehicles.
 
A case has been registered against K Althaf, Suryananda, Guruprasad and M Shyam Kutti, residents of Kodimbala.
 
The case has been transferred to Mining and Geology Department.
 
Meanwhile, the arrested retaliated alleging that there were bigger fish in the illegal sand mafia in Kadaba and the officials concerned were hesitant to act against them.

Twice married man falls in love again, lands in jail

Kaup : A man who was married twice earlier landed behind the bars after cheating a woman in name of love by hiding his marital status.

Ravi Shankarappa Naik (30), a mason by profession was not scared of trapping a school teacher named Shashikala from Shirvapadau.

Ravi originally hails from Mundagodu, Uttara Kannada but due to his profession he had started living in a rented accommodation near Shirva mosque. He met Shashikala here and love blossomed.

Blind in love Shashikala used to meet Ravi in his house, unaware of all the personal details that Ravi had kept under wraps. On October 31, Shashikala eloped with Ravi.

The couple landed at Ravi’s house in Mundagodu and soon Ravi’s second wife discovered about Ravi’s love tale. When Ravi’s second wife cried foul, Shashikala realised that she had been cheated in love.

She then informed her family members about the entire scene and lodged a police complaint against Ravi.

Acting upon the complaint, Shirva police inspector Ashok and constables arrested Ravi from Attinje. He was later produced to court.

It is learnt that Ravi was married to a Banavasi based woman Jyoti for six years and had three daughters with her.  He later left her in the lurch and married Janakawwa from Hanagal and has two sons.
