Two bike lifters arrested in Mangaluru
Mangaluru: City police arrested two youth on Tuesday, November 11 on charges of theft cases reported in and around Mangaluru.
The arrested are Avil Crastha (19), resident of Kudupu and Vivian Quadras (19), resident of Kavoor. The arrest was made based on a complaint filed by Umanath. When the police were conducting a routine vehicle checking near Vamanjoor check post, they spotted the missing bike of Umanath.
During the interrogation it was revealed that the duo had stolen the bike from Umanath’s house at Bondel on October 29. The police also seized three other two wheelers stolen from various parts of Mangalore.
Rural police Inspector Rajesh A K along with Sub Inspector Venkatesh I, Police Head Constables Sukumar Shetty, Mohan P C, Melwyn Pinto and Sidhir were part of the team which was led by Mangaluru City Police Commissioner R Hithendra, Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr Jagadish and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vishnuvardhan and ACP Pawan Najjor.
Family dispute drives woman to end life
Kadaba: A 35-year-old woman committed suicide by jumping into a well on Tuesday, November 11 at Perabe.
The deceased is Laxmi, wife of Suresh, a resident o Kochakatte. It is said that Laxmi was depressed owing to the family issues. Suresh used to physically torture her in an inebriated state.
On Monday night, the couple had a tiff which led Laxmi to take an extreme step of ending her life. It is said that Laxmi who was physically assaulted by her husband left the house late night. On Tuesday morning her body was found at a nearby well. The locals who traced injuries over her body are suspecting that Suresh must have killed her.
The police who visited the spot have sent the body for post morterm reports. The deceased is survived by two sons.
A case was registered by her relative Krishnappa. The police have also arrested Suresh on charges of physical and mental torture.
Puttur DySP H D Mendonca along with Kadaba Sub Inspector Yogesh Kumar visited the spot.
Muralidharan murder case : Police arrest four on charges of assisting alleged murderers
Kumble : Kumble police on Tuesday, November 11 arrested four for allegedly providing assistance to the accused in the CPI(M) activist Muralidharan murder case. With this, the total number of arrests has raised to eight.
The arrested are Ajith (22), Mahesh (21), Kiran Kumar (25), residents of Kudreppady and Nithin Raj K (21) from Kalyangad. The operation was led by Kumble Circle Inspector K P Suresh.
Muralidharan (35), an activist of CPI(M)’s youth wing Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) was stabbed to death by a four-member group as he, along with his friend was riding in a two-wheeler near Apasara Mill near Seethangoli on October 27 evening. He succumbed to injuries on the spot.
While Ajith and Mahesh are booked for allegedly providing financial aid to the alleged murderers, Kiran and Nithin Raj are charged of helping them flee from the spot.
The murder accused namely Sharathraj, Bharath, Dinu Acharya and Mithun Kumar C H are already remanded to judicial custody.
