Mangaluru : Chief of Rashtriya Hindu Sena Pramod Muthalik sparked controversy as he openly declared that the hands of the rapists should be chopped before subjecting them to law.

Hinting on how criminals through their expert lawyers exploit the loopholes in the system, he said that the State Government has been aiding them by doing everything possible from their end. He was speaking this at a press conference held at Arya Samaj here on Sunday, November 16.

Nanditha case

Quashing allegations that the death of Nanditha could be a case of honour killing, he said that no father in the world would kill his own daughter for pride or respect. He demanded for a unbiased probe into the case, however the Government was curbing rights of the policemen and thus posing hurdles in sincerely discharging their duties, he said.

On asking that the Congress and the BJP were playing blame game, he said that both parties should keep their mouths shut.

Withdraw Madani’s bail extension

Slamming the then Central Government and questioning the move of the Supreme Court on Kerala-based PDP Chairman and 2008 serial bomb blast case prime accused Abdul Nasser Madani’s bail extension, Muthalik said that he would consult an advocate and see to it that Madani’s bail extension is called off as he was just pretending to be ill.

“Madani getting extended bail was a clear indication to suggest that the Congress Government and the Supreme Court had played spoilsport. Madani’s lawyer argued that he should be granted bail (then extended) considering his medical condition. The lawyer presented relevant documents from five hospitals to prove the same. However, when we checked his medical reports, it was very much clear that he was not suffering from any ailments and hence, his bail term should immediately be terminated.”

Madani was granted bail by the Supreme Court on medical grounds on July 11, 2014 which took note that he was an under-trial prisoner and had already been behind the bars for the last four years and was suffering from various ailments, including diabetes.

Assault at Koragajja Gudi

Criticizing the police for not taking action against the culprits in connection with the alleged assault on the couple at Koragajja temple near Urwa Market, he said that since the attackers belonged to other community, no actions is taken against them despite lodging a complaint.

“If we had launched an attack, the police would certainly arrest those involved in the assult and also the innocent ones.”

Sri Rama Sene activist Madhusudhan and his lover Zahida got married according to the Arya Samaj rituals on November 14. The girl’s name was then changed to Vijalayalakshmi. The news didn’t go down well with her relatives who allegedly assaulted the couple. Fearing for their life, the couple then went to Barke Police Station and filed a complaint against the assaulters.

Muthalik demanded for a unbiased judicial system in the State and also cautioned of a protest if stern action is not taken against the culprits.

State Vice-President of Sri Rama Sene South Zone Kumar Malemar, District President Jeevan Neermarga, Ganesh Attavar and Sudatta Jain were present among others.
