Mangaluru: In a tragic accident, a man riding pillion lost his life on the spot after the bike he was travelling in was hit by a bus from the rear at Lalbagh on Saturday, November 29.

The deceased is Kiran Kotian, a man in his early forties and resident of Kudupu. The rider of the bike has escaped unhurt in this accident.

Kiran and another person were riding the bike from Ladyhill. The Rajashree bus which was plying from Bejai towards Lalbagh hit the bike from the rear end. The impact was such that the bike was dragged for a distance of about 10 metres, resulting in Kiran’s death on the spot. Soon after the accident, locals gathered at the spot and expressed anger over the incident. As per the primary observation unscientific signals at the circle is also a reason of the accident. Kiran was employed with Hindustan Lever. West traffic police have registered a case.

Car enters bank premises after collision, passenger loses life

Baindoor: A passenger was killed after her car collided with a lorry transporting gas cylinders spinning her vehicle out of control straight into bank premises on Friday, November 28, at Shiroor. The deceased passenger is identified as Laxmi Kutty (70) who died on the way to the hospital after she was severely injured in the collision. While the car was heading towards Ernakulam from Gokarna, the lorry was transporting gas cylinders to Bhatkal. The car driver and two other passengers are being treated for their injuries at Kundapur hospital. A major mishap was averted since most of the bank employees had gone out for the lunch break during then time of the incident. A case has been registered at Shiroor police station.

Mystery behind unearthed skeletal remains at Mulky finally unraveled 

Mulky: The police have been successful in discovering the identities of the skeletons found in the Mulky forest area on Friday, November 28, and have now determined that both remains belong to individuals from the same family.

They remains belong to a person named Surendra (21) and his sister in-law Sharmila (22). Surendra from Angaragudde was working as a sweeper in a college. 

He and his elder brother’s wife Sharmila who has a two-and-half-year old child went missing two years ago. The police recovered an identity card from the pants of Surendra from the spot, which read that he was a worker in Panchakarma wing of Alva’s College Moodabidri.

The exact reason why the duo had ended their life is not yet known but as per few sources possibilities of some sort of relationship between the two is suspected. The duo were said to be in touch with their family members for about one year after which all communications were cut off.

On Friday, when some local youth ventured into the woods to get some logs of wood for religious rituals, to their surprise they saw a saffron veil entangled in the tree. On inspecting the place, they found footwear, clothes and skeletal remains of humans. Thereafter the locals immediately called in the police.

According to the police, the two must have first tied the lady’s shawl around their waists and theb ended their lives. The skull of the two is missing from their skeleton, which the police suspect to be the work of animals inhabiting the forest.
