Mumbai, Jan 5: Kannada Bhavan Education Society celebrated their golden jubilee at Karnataka Sangha, Mumbai’s Dr M Vishweshwaraya hall at Matunga West on Saturday evening January 3, 2015.

Education society executive president A B Shetty presided over the programme. Viswath chemicals limited executive president B Vivek Shetty was the chief guest. Moneyfold Cooperative credit Society Limited executive president Kadandale Suresh S Bhandary, Maharaja groups products executive president Chandrahasa K Shetty, youth businessman Srinivasa Shetty were present as guests of honour. Vivek Shetty released the souvenir of golden jubilee titled ’Madhuravani’.

“Education is important for the life of human beings. The nation can prosper with education. The institute has taught thousands of students during the last five decades and has been a boon for humanity. It appears as though it may become digital during the next fifty years. I have two mothers. One of them is my mother and the other is the hometown. Everybody can become Bill Gates with modern education. However opportunities and good education is essential. A good teacher need not be a good human being but a good human being becomes a good teacher. I am donating Rs 5,000 to the student who comes first in SSLC examination in order to encourage education”, said Vivek Shetty.

Suresh Bhandary, speaking on the occasion, said that our elders migrated to Mumbai for their living. “Besides earning their living they started several associations and schools and presented them to society. Starting a school is easy but to run and make it progress for fifty years is difficult. If we inculcate the examples of our teachers our lives will be stable. It will be a guide for us like the constitution is to the country”, he said.

“The future of the country is in the hands of children. The children should not forget their parents and the teachers who provide education to them. We should look at them with respect and make lives worth living. If we follow their teachings and guidance”, we will be happy, said Chandrahasa Shetty.

“Children need education. Man becomes weak with age. However an institute becomes stronger with age. It gives pride to know that there is a Kannada education society in the institute”, said executive president A B Shetty in his presidential address.

The Chief guest felicitated the teachers, non teaching staff, founder principal Ram Narayan Ail, former principal Sulochana Moorthy and present principal Suresh S Suvarna. Inter school talent competition winning students and sports winners were awarded awards and scholarships and felicitated on the occasion. Senior members of the society H P Ameen, Srinivasa Shetty, L S Shetty, Shivananda Shittigar, Vastu expert Pandith Navinchandra Sanil and others were honored on the occasion.

Education society vice president Ram Narayan Ail, D B Ameen, honorary treasurer Purushotham M Poojary were present on the dais. Principal S Suvarna welcomed the gathering. Honorary chief secretary Shekar A Ameen gave a description of the starting and achievements of the institute. Teachers Prabha Nayak, Vasanthi Shetty, S Radhakrishnan read the list of talented students. Teacher Amritha Shetty compered cultural programme and Keshava K Kotian compered the hall programme. Joint secretary Devadas Kulal proposed vote of thanks.

As part of entertainment programme, school and college students and old students presented different cultural programmes. Padmanabha Sasihitlu led Kalasaurabha trouple presented ’Sangeetha Shringara’ programme consisting of songs, dance and comedy. Pushkal Kumar, a guest artiste attracted art lovers towards him.
