Udupi : The Department of Internal Medicine and Community Medicine, Kasturba Medical College and Hospital, Manipal along with The Department of Public Health, Manipal University will be hosting the 3^rd International Non-Communicable Diseases Research Meet on 10^th & 11^th January 2015 at Interact Lecture Hall complex, Manipal. Successfully addressing the complex causes of Non communicable Diseases and reducing the global burden will involve interdisciplinary approaches. The 3^rd International Non-communicable diseases Research meet is a mark of the collaboration of Manipal University with the University of Alabama, Birmingham, Florida University and the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation. The Non-Communicable Diseases Research Meet will have international speakers such as Dr. Dale Williams from University of Flroida, Dr. Cora Lewis from University of Alabama, eminent national faculty such as Dr. Usha Ayyagari and Dr. Rakesh Sahay.

During in his talking with the media persons Dr. (Col) M Dayananda Medical Superintendent and COO of KMC said that around 200 doctors will attend the meet. The main focus of this event is to create awareness about the non-communicable diseases which are a rising cause of morbidity and mortality. Physicians and post graduates from various parts of India along with international Faculty will be a part of this research meet and will shed light on various topics like diabetes, hypertension and cholesterol.

The purpose of this symposium is to bring together junior and senior faculty and academicians to discuss priorities in global non-communicable disease research.

Dr. Sudha Vidyasagar Professor and Head, Dept. of General Medicine, Kasturba Medical College and Hospital, Manipal is the convener and Dr. Veena Kamath, Professor and Head, Dept of Community Medicine, KMC, Manipal is the Co-convener and Dr. Shivashankar K. N. Professor Dept of General Meicine, KMC, Manipal is the organizing secretary of the 3^rd International Non-communicable Diseases Research Meet, Manipal.

Inauguration of the meet will be held on Sunday, 10^th January, 2015 at 9.45am. During the press meet along with Dr. (Col) M Dayananda, Dr. Sudha Vidyasagar, Dr. Shivashankar and others were present.
