SpiceJet plane skids off at Hubli airport, no one hurt

A SpiceJet Bombardier Q400 plane with 75 passengers and crew skidded at Hubli airport in Karnataka on Sunday evening. No one was injured in the incident.
The incident took place around 7:30 pm. The pilot was unable to control the aircraft after he landed the aircraft in rain.
"The left landing gear of the aircraft is damaged. A DGCA team will be visiting Hubli for inspection and inquiry," an aviation source said.
Hubli airport does not have advanced instrument landing system which aids pilots in landing. It also does not have approach lights at runway. Also the runway width at Hubli is narrow when compared to major airports and these factors coupled with rain would have made the landing challenging, sources said.
"All passengers and crew safe and in terminal. There are no injuries. We are working with DGCA on next steps," said a SpiceJet spokesperson.
