Doha: As predicted by the Qatar Meteorology Department’s weather forecast, Qatar residents awoke this Wednesday morning to hear the thunder, rain and wind. While children were wondering about taking an off from the school, parents were worried about reaching office, yet all of them were happy about this change in the climate.
The Met has warned that this thundery rain associated with strong wind inshore and strong wind and high seas and thunder rain offshore will continue till 6pm Wednesday. The weather inshore will be partly cloudy to cloudy with rain over most areas maybe thundery at places, while offshore will be partly cloudy to cloudy with scattered rain maybe thundery at times.
Many areas around the city were flooded with traffic delays and vehicle breakdown due to water logging. Indian Roohi Khatri, a social media consultant, working at West Bay was excited about the rains saying “an exact climate for chai (tea) and pakora (a fried snack). It felt like home for the first time in two years.”
