Ullal: Residents of Boliyar village have reportedly witnessed a strange creature resembling a human being that has been wandering the village at night.
 
However, it is yet to be confirmed whether the creature is an alien or a strange animal.
 
The creature has created panic amongst the people residing at Kampadi and Badakinakatte area of the Boliyar village, which is surrounded by a river and forest.
 
The strange creature, which follows people (sometimes on four legs, otherwise on two legs — as described by the villagers) has led to residents creating strange stories.
 
The people who witnessed the creature have told the media that the ’alien,’ from the past one week had been entering the village perhaps from the nearby forest and was moving around making loud noises resembling that of a child’s cry.
 
One of the residents, Vasanthi, was the first to have spotted the creature. Last week, while returning from a Bhajan in a nearby Bhajan Mandir, she felt as though someone was following her. She turned around and saw a creature and assumed it to be an animal (since it was dark). However, she was in for a shock, when she had a closer look of the animal — it was about the size of a child, human like figure but spoke in an unknown language— she ran to her house in panic. Her family said that the strange animal followed her till the house and then rushed into the forest crying out loud.
 
Another man in the village also shared a similar experience. While some have seen it as a big cat, others have noticed the same as a Black Gorilla walking on two legs. Some others have seen the animal moving and jumping roundabout as well.
 
All these incidents have created fear and panic amongst the villagers and they are afraid to move around alone. Three local youths, courageously  patrolled the village for two days so that the fear of the villagers would be banished.
 
It is reported that the animal appeared near an under construction building in the village — a youth tried to follow the animal and catch it but it disappeared in to the forest when it saw the torch light. However, the villagers are still continuing with the search operations.
 
Though the people have not seen the animal thereafter, the fear and panic is still there. The Forest Department, Police Department and DK District Administration have been urged to investigate the matter in order to eliminate panic and instill confidence in minds of the villagers.
