Mangaluru: India’s growing coastal city, Mangaluru, managed to secure the 63rd rank in the latest list of cleanest cities of the country as released by the Ministry of Union Urban Development on Thursday.
As per the data released for the current year based on the findings of ’Swachh Survekshan-2017,’ Mysuru lost its top spot and moved down to the fifth position in the national level rankings.
Meanwhile, Mangaluru and Udupi have been declared the second and third cleanest cities respectively in Karnataka after Mysuru. Udupi secured the 143rd rank in the national ranking.

New Delhi/Mysuru: According to the results and conclusions of Swachh Suvekshan-2017 conducted by union ministry for urban development, Idore city of Madhya Pradesh replaced Mysuru as best clean city in the country. Mysuru, which declared as cleanest city in the country by the union government in 2016, now moved down and received sixth position in the latest ranking released on Thursday.
The list of top 10 clean cities of India in 2017 include, Indore, followed by Bhopa, Visakhapatnam, Surat, Mysuru, Tiruchirapally, New Delhi Municipal Council, Navi Mumbai, Tirupati and Vadodara.
Bottom ten clean cities, towns are, Gonda, UP(434 rank), Bhusawal, Maharashtra (433), Bagaha, Bihar (432), Hardoi, Uttarakhand (431), Katihar, Bihar (430), Bahraich, UP (429), Muktsar, Punjab (428), Abohar, Punjab (427), Shahjahanpur, UP (426) and Khurja, UP (425). Four of the bottom ten clean cities are from UP, two each from Bihar and Punjab and one each from Uttarakhand and Maharashtra. These bottom ten cities were not surveyed in 2016.
