Indian teen’s body swept away in Sharjah wadi flood found in Oman

The body of Albert Joy, the 18-year-old boy who has been missing since Thursday, November 16 afternoon has been found in Oman, confirmed close aides of his family.

The teenager’s body was washed away by rainwater in Wadi Sheis in the eastern region of Sharjah.

Albert’s distraught father has rushed with his passport to Oman, and more details will be revealed only after he returns, according to social workers and close aides.

Indian Consul General to Dubai Vipul visited the family on Tuesday, November 21, offering them support and assuring that all would be done to find Albert. Vipul assured that everything would be done to find him at the earliest, including taking the help of Oman Police. 

The 18-year-old is a student at a RAK engineering college and is survived by his parents’ Joy, Valsamma and a sister.Rescue units of Sharjah Police, as well as Dubai Police and the Air Wing of Abu Dhabi Police, set out to search the boy in the past few days. The police teams with the national ambulance rushed to the scene and immediately began searching for the missing boy.The teenager was with his five Indian friends who were rescued by an Emirati national from the same area where the accident happened.

He revealed that the missing boy’s parents were in India when the incident took place, however, the father flew back to UAE immediately after he learnt of his son’s disappearance.  

Hailing from Ernakulam district in Kerala, India, the family has been living in RAK for several years. The missing boy is said to be an engineering student at a college in the Emirate. The community has come forward to support the family in their time of need.
