CWG 2018: India finishes at third position with 66 medals

With a grand total of 66 medals, India finished with the third highest medal tally on Sunday in the 21st edition of the Commonwealth Games held at Gold Coast, Australia.

India bagged 26 gold, 20 silver and 20 bronze medals to remain in the third position. Australia with 79 gold medals and England with 45 are in the first and second position respectively.

Saina Nehwal’s first place victory in the singles badminton event was the shining event on the last day of the competition. Srikanth Kidambi, the world number one, settled for Silver in the badminton singles final while Dipika Pallikal and Joshna Chinappa also went down fighting in the women’s squash doubles final for Silver.
Satwik Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty today claimed India’s first ever medal in men’s doubles badminton after settling for a silver.

This is India’s third-best ever performance in the Commonwealth Games.
