ವಿವಿ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮೆಹಂದಿ, ಕೇಶವಿನ್ಯಾಸದ ಸಂಭ್ರಮ!

ಮಂಗಳೂರು: ಯಾವತ್ತೂ ಪಾಠ-ಪ್ರವಚನ ಎಂದು ಗಂಭೀರವಾಗಿರುವ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾನಿಲಯ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಶನಿವಾರ ಮಾತ್ರ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿಯರು ಮೆಹಂದಿ ಹಚ್ಚುವುದು, ಕೇಶವಿನ್ಯಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಬ್ಯುಸಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಈ ಸಂಭ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣ ಲಲಿತ ಕಲಾ ಸಂಘ ಕಾಲೇಜು ವಾರ್ಷಿಕೋತ್ಸವದ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದ ಮೆಹೆಂದಿ ಹಚ್ಚುವ ಮತ್ತು ಕೇಶವಿನ್ಯಾಸ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ.

ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪದವಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿಯರಿಗಾಗಿ ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದ ಈ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೆಹಂದಿ ಹಚ್ಚುವ ಕಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ 13 ಮಂದಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯ ಸಾಬೀತುಪಡಿಸಿದರೆ, ಮೊದಲ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದ ಕೇಶವಿನ್ಯಾಸ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯಲ್ಲಿ 11 ಮಂದಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲ ಡಾ.ಉದಯ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಎಂ.ಎ, ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಾ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹುರಿದುಂಬಿಸಿದರು.

ಮೆಹಂದಿ ಹಚ್ಚುವ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗೆ ಹಿರಿಯ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರಾದ ಡಾ. ಸುಭಾಷಿಣಿ ಶ್ರೀವತ್ಸ, ಪಿ. ರಾಜೇಶ್ವರಿ, ಡಾ. ಕೆ.ಎ. ನಾಗರತ್ನ, ಶಿಫಾಲಿ ಮೊದಲಾದವರು ತೀರ್ಪುಗಾರರಾಗಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಕೇಶವಿನ್ಯಾಸ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗೆ ಡಾ. ಎನ್.ಕೆ. ರಾಜಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀ, ಡಾ.ಭಾರತಿ ಪ್ರಕಾಶ್, ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಪರಿಣಿತಾ, ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ವನಜಾ ಮೊದಲಾದವರು ತೀರ್ಪುಗಾರರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳ ಆಯೋಜನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ಲಲಿತ ಕಲಾ ಸಂಘದ ನೇತೃತ್ವ ವಹಿಸಿರುವ ಡಾ. ಸುಮಾ ಟಿ.ಆರ್, ಹಿರಿಯ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕಿ ಡಾ. ಮೀನಾಕ್ಷಿ, ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ಮಯೂರೇಶ್, ಜೊತೆ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ಶ್ರೇಯಾ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.

Inauguration of Renovated ‘Ravindra Kalabhavana’

Renovated ‘Ravindra Kalabhavana’ of University College Mangalore, Hampanakatta will be inaugurated on February 26, Tuesday at 11 am. Alumni of the college, former chief minister, Chikballapur MP M. Veerappa Moily will inaugurate the structure.

Urban Development and Housing Minister, District-in-Charge Minister U T Khader will be the guest of honor. Mangalore South MLA Vedavyasa Kamath D, MLC and CM’s Parliamentary Secretary Ivan D’Souza, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLC S L Bhojegowda, Mangalore City Corporation Mayor Bhaskar K, Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil S, MCC Corporator A C Vinayraj will be the chief guests.

Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) Prof. Eshwar P will preside over the function. Mangalore University Registrar Prof. A M Khan, Principal Dr. Uday Kumar M A, Teaching and non-teaching staff, student union members will be present on the occasion.

About Ravindra Kalabhavana:

This hall of the University College had been named after poet Rabindranath Tagore as he visited the college in 1922. The University Grants Commission a few years ago bestowed the ‘special heritage status’ on the college, the only degree college in Karnataka to get it.

It sanctioned Rs. 1.83 crore under the scheme for the renovation of the Bhavan. The estimated cost of renovation was around Rs.2.5 crore. The college collected the balance amount required from donors.
