Omani student stabbed to death outside Harrods in London

Oman Embassy in London confirm incident, which happened on Friday morning

Dubai: The victim of a stabbing outside Harrods in London in the early hours of Friday morning has been confirmed as an Omani student named Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Araimi.

The Oman Embassy in London tweeted, “A regrettable stabbing attack took place, claiming the life of the Omani student, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Araimi. With great sadness and sorrow, the Embassy in London extends its condolences to the family of the deceased. We are closely following up with British authorities to determine the circumstances of the incident.”

The victim, believed to be in his 20s, was pronounced dead in Brompton Road, Knightsbridge shortly before 1am on Friday. It is the third such fatal stabbing in the UK capital in less than 24 hours after similar incidents in Hackney at 2pm on Thursday and Greenwich at 3am on Friday.

Of the Knightsbridge stabbing, a Scotland Yard spokeswoman said, “Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a man unconscious at the scene.

“The man, believed to be aged in his 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene at 00.39hrs.

“Next of kin are in the process of being informed. Formal identification and a post mortem will take place in due course.”

Police said another man was injured and taken to hospital where he is in a serious condition. Unconfirmed reports suggest the injured man is a Bahraini national and had been with the Omani student at the time of the attack.
