Brahmavar : A farewell programme for the outgoing students of Nirmala English Medium School, 2019-20 here was organised by the students of class 8 and 9 along with the teachers on Saturday, 29^th of February 2020, in the assembly hall. All the staff members from the pre-primary to higher primary and secondary sections were present.  Hall was decorated with colourful buntings and posters. The theme of the Farewell was ‘Life is a Journey not a destination’. Each of the class 10 students was welcomed with a rose to the auditorium and as a token of love; a handbook on career guidance and a memento was handed over to the students.

Correspondent Rev. Fr Victor Fernandes, School Counceller Rev. Fr Arthur, Former President of PTA Committee Chitturu Prabhakar Acharya, principal Rev. Fr Joslie D’Silva , Class teacher Ms. Kavitha Sanil were on the dais. Kum. Nishitha of class 9 gave a brief welcome speech after which there was floral welcome to the dignitaries on the dais.

In keeping with the tradition of NEMS, the farewell programme began with a solemn prayer service by lighting the lamp, which was conducted by Sr Sanjitha and team. A beautiful song was played highlighting the journey of life. There was a message regarding life, hope, peace, and harmony wherever they go.

Two students of class X Sugam and Elvisha Lobo were given the chance to express their sentiments and memories during their stay at NEMS.  Speech was quite touching which was indicative of mixed emotions of the students which they were undergoing during this phase. The emotions were joyful owing to successful years at this school and little sadness to bid farewell to this premises, teachers and classmates for their future endeavours. The students of class 10 contributed Rs.22,500  as a token of love and gratitude.

 Rev. Fr Vicotr Fernandes in his speech inspired the outgoing students and wished them good luck for their exams and future challenges. He gave a little awakening to the students in terms of future endeavours and also was keen to help them in future interactions as alumni. Our former PTA President was quite impressed by the speeches of the students, he highlighted important points which a student can remember and recall after such ceremony.    

The fun-filled part began with an entertaining programme by juniors of class 8 and 9. Enjoyable games were organised to keep up the spirit of this programme followed by prize distribution. Kum. Gagana of class X was lucky person of the batch 2020. Students had volunteered to be DJ of the  day,  many students joined  and had fun with the music and clicked pictures around the school where they would have had so many memories.

The programme ended with an inspiring speech given by our principal,  Rev. Fr Joslie D’Silva  And finally, Preksha Das a student   of class 10^th gave vote of thanks .

The event was coordinated by Mrs Irene Pereira and Mr. Rama M. and anchored by Preksha ofclass 9 and Nireeksha of class 8.
