Print Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti condemns the atrocity on Udyavar Gram panchayat worker
Udupi : Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti condemns the atrocity on government employee of Udyavara Gram Panchayat Shivaraju M during the panchayat meeting, said State Dalit Sangarsh Samiti convener Shekar Havanje.
Speaking at a press meet held at Udupi Press Club here on Wednesday, October 21, Shekar Havanje said that Shivaraju has been working as assistant accountant in Udyavara gram panchayat with honesty and without corruption. During the panchayat meeting on September 23, Shekar Kotian and Bhaskar Kotian made a social ban on the honest panchayat worker Shivaraju and expelled him from the meeting which was against the law on atrocities on backward communities.
In this case, the accused Shekar Kotian and Bhaskar Kotian’s bail application was rejected by the Udupi special court and session’s court on October 16. However, the said accused is not arrested by the police. Instead of the accused, the police provide safe heaven to the accused which will be condemned, he said.
Shekar Havenje said that police should protect as per the law to backward communities. But, police secured the accused and due to that it may be possible to destroy the evidence of the case. The accused are roaming around and doing their business as normal. These accused are strongly depended on by the local politicians and complaint registered against the Shivaraju that he was responsible to disrupt the proceeding of the panchayat meeting which is fake and untrue.
He said that police should protect the Shivaraju who are facing the threat of life threat by goons. It would be necessary to arrest the accused Bhaskar Kotian and Shekar Kotian in order to solve the problems.
The Dalit leaders Uday Kumar Advocate, Gopal and others were present during the press meet.
