Father Mathew Vas Memorial Inter-Parish Tournament

Father Mathew Vas, the Founder Trustee of Community Empowerment Trust ® Mangalore, whose dedication and selfless service to the society left an indelible mark on the community and congregation of Mangalore, a collaborative effort between Community Empowerment Trust (R) Mangalore, Christian Sports Association Mangalore, Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh (R), and Catholic Sabha, Udupi Pradesh (R) is set to host the Father Mathew Vas Memorial Inter-Parish Tournament. This event aims to celebrate his legacy and promote community unity through sports.
The tournament will feature competitive Inter-Parish Football (Men) and Throwball (Women) matches and will take place on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at the St. Aloysius PU College Grounds.

As part of the event, a special ceremony will be held to felicitate Catholic athletes of Mangalore and Udupi Diocese who have demonstrated exceptional talent by winning medals at the state and national levels. We encourage the submission of names of deserving athletes who achieved these milestones between October 1, 2022, and September 30, 2023, to Community Empowerment Trust, Milagres, Mangaluru, by October 15, 2023. Detailed tournament information and regulations have been disseminated to the churches within the Mangaluru and Udupi Diocese. We kindly request participating denominations to register their teams’ names by October 15, 2023.

The tournament winners will be rewarded generously, with cash prizes as follows: First Place: ₹25,000 each, Second Place: ₹15,000 each, Third Place: ₹7,500 each. Additionally, all winning denominations will receive a commemorative plaque in recognition of their outstanding performance.
This event promises to be a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship, community spirit, and the enduring legacy of Father Mathew Vas. We look forward to the participation of parishes, athletes, and community members in this memorable tournament.
