Kundapura: BJP believes in decentralisation of power: CM
Chief Minister Jagdish Shettar said the BJP believes in decentralisation of power to cater to the needs of people in every nook and corner of the state. The result was the formation of 43 new taluks in the state.
Addressing the BJP election rally here, CM alleged that despite nearly four separate Committees recommendations over forming new taluks, no single government earlier to BJP had made up its mind to execute the recommendations of the reports. The fear of building necessary infrastructures and additional investment of Rs 400 to 500 crores made all previous governments to set back from forming new taluks in the State. There should be more of taluks as it is essential to make people receive the benefits of governance effectively.
Expressing confidence that BJP will certainly form the next government with maximum majority, CM said BJP tenure of five years have assured secured livelihood to all sections of people in society. The BJP government presented an agriculture budget for the first time in the country and also measures were taken to offer loans to farmers at zero percent interest rate. The government also announced loan waving scheme up to Rs 25000 to the farmers of all class. This added a huge burden of Rs 3600 crores to state’s exchequer. Measures are taken to reimburse the amount of farmers’ loan due, he added.
Underdeveloped roads
“Despite the State government sending proposals to the Central government during last five years requesting to sanction road development under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojane, the Centre has not sanctioned even one km road. Over 10,000 district roads have been developed in the state under various schemes and grants. The aim is to develop 50 km road in every constituency,” the CM said.
Taking a dig at the Congress leaders for making false allegations against the BJP leaders, he said the Congress men are making allegations for political reasons. He gave an open challenge to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to come up with the statistics of the achievements during the tenure of the Congress and the BJP parties in the State and debate it in a public platform.Shettar recalled the contribution of former minister Late Dr V S Acharya towards the development of the State. He appreciated Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts for successfully implementing the government programmes and called both the districts as ‘model’ districts.
Muzrai Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, Baindoor MLA K Lakshminarayana and others were present. Hundreds of other party workers joined the BJP on the occasion.
