Puttur : Woman thrashed by youth

Kumbra : A woman was mercilessly thrashed by a group of youth who barged into her house located at Kunjooru Panja in Aryapu village.

The lady identified as Janaki was alone at her house when the incident occurred. It is said that the youths had enmity with her son Jayanth. On the fateful day the group came in search of Jayanth, on finding that he was not there they took their anger on the lady and also destroyed household items.
A case has been registered against accused Narmesh, Jeevan, Rakshith, Santhu alias Santhosh, Santhost Poojary in Puttur Rural Police Station.

Belman: Leopard kills cattle, villagers panic

Belman: Leela Poojarty, a resident of Belman woke up on Sunday to the news that a leopard had killed a calf tied in her cowshed.
Leela Poojarty who is suffering from health issues was highly dependent on dairy farming for her livelihood. 
Wild animals have been straying into the village for quite some time and the locals are facing the threat. The leopard had killed a cow a few days ago. 
“A complaint has been registered with the Forest Department. However, there is no response from them,” complained Prem, Karunakar and Dinesh Papu, locals.

Karkala : 15 year old girls go missing, kidnap suspected


Karkala : In a suspected case of kidnapping two ninth standard girls have gone missing since March 1.

Two girls identified as Suma (15) and Harshita (15), students of SNB School, Anekere, Kasaba Village of Karkala Taluk had left to school on March 1 and have not returned to their houses.
The parents stated that the girls had taken money from their parents stating that they had to pay school fees and left the house.

The parents in their complaint to Karkala City Police Station have stated that the girls might have gone on their own accord or being kidnapped.

Belthangady: Police arrest accused for murdering woman in lodge


Belthangady: Belthangady police arrested a person on charges of murdering a married woman at a lodge at Ujire on March 1, Saturday. 
Bhagirathi alias Bhagya (35), and Balu M Kallalli (21) claiming to be couple, had hired a room in a lodge in Ujire on Saturday afternoon. Thw woman was found dead in the room.
Tracing the documents the duo submitted to the hotel, the police arrested Balu who is working as home guard in Chikmagalur sub-jail.
Incident detail: 
Bhagya was a married woman from Chikmagalur amd was the mother of two. She had been to Ujire lodge along with Balu who is unmarried. Balu and Bhagya came to know each other about six months back.
Balu grew suspicious of the lady’s loyalties, after overhearing her conversing over phone with someone in Telugu. The verbal altercation between the duo turned into major quarrel. Balu in a fit of anger murdered Bhagya.
After murder, the accused fled in his motor bike. The local police with the cooperation of their counterparts from Chikmagalur, succeeded in taking him into custody.
Further investigations are in progress.
