Udupi : The New Year’s Eve, Vigil Solemnity of Mary, Holy Mother of God was concelebrated by Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo at Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur, Diocese of Udupi on 31^st December, 2016.

On the occasion, the evening Liturgy began with Adoration of Holy Sacrament from 6.30 p.m. to 7.25 p.m. led by Rev Fr. Prakash Anil Castalino Asst. Parish Preist and Campus Director of Milagres College with devotion.

The  Vigil Solemn Eucharist Mass concelebrated by the Bishop along with Very Rev. Fr. Stany B. Lobo Rector of Diocese Cathedral, Very Rev Fr. Herald Mathias Director of Pilar Fathers, Kallianpur, Rev Fr. Nelson Furtado Vocational Director of Pilar Minor Seminary, Kasllianpur, Rev Fr. Prakash Anil Castalino and Rev Fr. Rolwin Aranha Asst. Parish priests.

In his homily Fr. Prakash Anil Castelino said that at the beginning of the New Year which also celebrates the World of Peace. Mother Mary is the Queen of Peace.  The life of Jesus begins with Mary. Therefore, it is appropriate that we begin the New Year with the Mother of God. Since Mary is the Mother of God she is the mother of joy, joy to the World. Mother Mary’s first Eucharist tour began with the visit of Elizabeth. Mother Mary has responsible Queen. She is the teacher of God Almighty and servant of God. She said what He told you, that you do. Mother Mary has the mother of mercy, mother of miracles, Mother of Perpetual Succor and almost Mother of every human being and the World.

Fr. Prakash Anil said that as our Udupi Diocese observing the Year of Lexiyo Devina 2017, let us make ourselves to read the Holy Bible every now and then which happens to be Merciful.

At the end of the Mass, Cathedral Rector Fr. Stany B. Lobo placed the weekly announcements and spoke of gratitude on the New Year’s Eve celebrations and he conveyed his wishes on the occasion of the New Year 2017.

The Bishop then inaugurated “Lexiyo Devina Year 2017” by unveiling the curtain for the Diocese of Udupi. After Bishop in his message said that it would be need to read, understand the Holy Bible. The purpose of observing the year of Lexiyo Devina that increase our faith and devotion to God with understand the Holy Bible every day.

Bishop said that we must thankful our Lord to have Patroness of our Parish, Patroness of the Diocese and helped to stand under Her Shadow. She influenced with live in God’s Mercy. Mother of Miracles will help us now and then when we need her help and guidance.

A large number of faithful participated in the New Year’s Vigil services and conveyed wishes each other. Milagrean YCS members arranged housie housie game for the participants and distributed prizes for the winners.
