Udupi : District Police cracked down two related two murder cases and arrested 12 persons. Udupi district Police taken all measures in regard to the murder cases, said K. T. Balakrishna, Superintendent of Police, Udupi District.

Addressing with media persons at Udupi SP office on Wednesday, 11^th January, 2017, he said the police have completed the investigation of Varvady Praveen Kulal murder case on 19^th December at Kotnakatte in Hiriyadka and arrested five accused murderers. There are more complicated issues behind the murder case which the prime accused in Praveen Kulal murder case Santhosh Poojaru is facing charges in Hindalga Jail. The other accused are Santhose alias Puttige Santhu, resident of Hiryadka, Santhosh Madiwala alias Mambettu Santhu, resident of Ontibettu, Lathish Poojary of Palimar and Sujith Pinto of Santhekatte. All of them were produced in the court and remanded to judiciary custody.

The SP said that Praveen Kulal had sketched the plan to murder of Santhosh Poojary. The matter regarding the plan to murder Santhosh Poojary who is in Hindalga Jail at present understood through Santhosh Mambettu and plot to kill Praveen Kulal on the direction of Santhosh Poojary. Santhosh Madivala, Santhosh Ram and Lathesh Poojary reportedly discussed with Santhosh Poojary at Belagavi Jail and planned to kill Praveen Kulal and the accused Sujith Pinto reportedly handed over Rs. 1,50,000 to Santhosh Madivala to kill Praveen Kulal.

Praveen Kulal was invited to Diya Bar at Kotankatte in Hiriyadka through Santhosh Madiwala and sent a message to Santhosh Ram that Praveen Kulal in the bar. Santhosh Ram and Lathesh Poojary reached the bar with swords and attacked the Praveen Kulal. Praveen ran out, even though these two murdered Praveen with weapons.

SP also said that the police have succeeded in cracking the case of murder of Santhosh Nayak at  Sannkkibettu in Parkala on 2^nd December, 2016. The accused in Santhosh Nayak murder case are Yarlapadi Prasad, Dayanand resident of Mangaluru, Wilfred Arthur, Jayanth Pai of Udupi, Krisha resident of Pernankila, Mahesh Achari resident of Marne, Ramesh resident of Pernankila and Prakash kulal.

Praveen Kulal was mastered the plan of recovering outstanding dues from Santhosh Nayak. Santhosh Nayak had gone missing since 2^nd December. Sumithra Nayak wife of Santhosh Nayak had  filed a complaint in Hiriyadka Police Station on 4^th December alleging that Praveen Kulal from Varwady along with others who was murdered Santhosh Nayak on 19^th December. It was during the investigation into the Praveen Kulal murder case that details of Santhosh Nayak’s murder came to light.

During the investigation by Police officers, it came to light that Santhosh Nayak had borrowed Rs. 40 lakhs from the accused, Nithyanad Nayak, Jayanth Pai and Wilfred Arthur was harassing the family without paying back the dues since six years. The accused contacted Praveen Kulal to recover the money from Santhosh Nayak. Praveen Kulal abducted Santhosh Nayak on 2^nd December from the house of his in laws and Praveen Kulal tried to force him to repay money by harassing them along with other accused. He also invited family members Nityanand Nayak, Jayanth Pai and Wilfred Arthur to that spot and tortured Santhosh in their presence in an effort to coerce Santhosh into repaying the dues. But Santhosh due to the torture died on the spot.

The same night Praveen Kulal with others reached the house of Santhosh Nayak and broke open the door of the house and searched the house with pedestal of the puja room to find hidden wealth. Praveen Kulal and his gang snatched their ornaments around their necks and fingers and ankles and droped in car at Sanakkibettu. Same night Praveen Kulal associates chopped Santhosh Nayak and gathered in gunny bag into pieces and discarded into a well inside the forest region of Pernankila and set fire just 100 meters from the well mislead the police.

Under the guidance of SP, KT Balakrishna and Additional SP Vishuvardhan and Kumarswamy deputy SP, Srikanth K Brahmavar Police Circle Inspector, DCIB Inspector Sampath Kumar, Hiriyada PSI Vinayaka Billava, Rosario D’Souza DCIB ASI and other held the investigation.
